How to Configure Netscape Messenger 4.5 - 4.73

  1. Open Netscape Communicator.

  2. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.

  3. Click the plus sign next to Mail & Newsgroups so that its contents are shown.

  4. Click the Identity item.

    5.  
  5. Delete the contents of the Your name field, and type your full name.

    6.  
  6. Delete the contents of the Email address field, and type your email address.


    7.  
  7. Click the Mail Servers item.

    8.  
  8. Delete the contents of the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field, and type the SMTP server name specific to your domain (i.e. smtp.pacbell.net for pacbell).

    9.  
  9. Delete the contents of the Outgoing mail server user name field, and type your email address.

    10.  
  10. Click the Edit button.


    11.  
  11. Delete the contents of the Server Name field, and type the POP3 mail server name specific to your domain (i.e. mail.freerun.com for Freerun).

    12.  
  12. Delete the contents of the User Name field, and type your username.

    13.  
  13. Click the OK button.


    14.  
  14. Click the OK button.

    You have just successfully configured your email program.
